To conserve life is to protect the fabric that sustains our health, our culture and our shared future.
The 1st International Forum on Biodiversity Conservation and Human Wellbeing is a space for dialogue and collective reflection, aimed at reconnecting knowledge, territories and sectors to advance towards a more just and sustainable development model. For two days, the University of Concepción will host the convergence of science, public policy, innovation, business, communities and engaged citizens.
Organised by Campus Naturaleza UdeC, this forum brings together researchers, students, authorities, social organisations and the private sector to think and co-create solutions grounded in knowledge with public purpose. Solutions that emerge from place-based realities, that weave together scientific and local knowledge, and that promote a renewed culture of care—for the planet, for people, and for our collective future
Biodiversity is more than natural heritage—it is the foundation of our existence. It ensures food and water security, regulates the climate, supports our physical and mental health, and strengthens resilience to disasters and pandemics. Yet biodiversity is in decline across all regions and scales, with profound consequences for ecosystems and human well-being.
According to the 2024 IPBES Nexus Report, biodiversity loss and climate change are deeply interconnected, each intensifying the other. Their combined effects increase food insecurity, disease risk, water scarcity, and social inequality. Political and economic decisions focused on short-term gain, without regard for nature, only deepen these crises—especially for the most vulnerable.
In this context, the 1st International Forum on Biodiversity Conservation and Human Well-being, organised by the Campus Naturaleza UdeC, emerges as a vital space for dialogue and action. The forum aims to explore and strengthen the deep connection between nature and quality of life through a rich, interdisciplinary exchange.
Who is this forum for?
The forum welcomes the university community, environmental and health professionals, policymakers, civil society organisations, and engaged citizens. It is especially designed for those who believe that nature conservation and human well-being must go hand in hand.
Why attend?
Because human well-being depends on healthy ecosystems.
Because the forum will showcase inspiring, transformative initiatives that reconnect people with nature—through conservation, ecological restoration, education, and mental health.
Because we must move beyond fragmented approaches and embrace the interconnections between biodiversity, health, food, water, and climate.
Because it is an opportunity to experience Campus Naturaleza UdeC, an innovative model where conservation, recreation, culture, restoration, and well-being converge in a living landscape.
