A recognised international leader in biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration, with over 35 years of experience. He is currently Executive Chair of Kew REACH and has held key roles in high-impact institutions such as the Cambridge Conservation Initiative (CCI) at the University of Cambridge and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
He is best known for his role as Director of Conservation at the Eden Project (United Kingdom), one of the world's most influential centres for education and ecological restoration, where he led large-scale conservation, habitat restoration and environmental education projects.
He has also worked at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and the International Centre for Tropical Botany at FIU. He has coordinated international partnerships for the management of threatened species in Africa, oceanic islands, the Americas and Europe, and is the author of numerous scientific publications on botanical conservation and integrated in situ and ex situ strategies. In addition, he serves on advisory boards for international conservation funds and supports the training of new generations of professionals at the intersection of science, policy, and environmental management.
