Internationally recognised as the world's leading expert in forest medicine and immunology. He is a physician and clinical professor at Nippon Medical School in Tokyo, and has held leadership positions in hospitals and scientific societies in Japan and around the world.
He has been a visiting researcher at Stanford University and is the founding president of the Japanese Society of Forest Medicine. He also holds leadership positions in the International Society of Natural and Forest Medicine and is actively involved in global networks dedicated to health and forests.
A pioneer in the development of forest medicine (Shinrin-yoku), Dr. Li began his research in 2004 and published the seminal work Forest Medicine. His book Shinrin-Yoku: The Art and Science of Forest Bathing is an international bestseller and has been translated into several languages, highlighting the value of nature for human health and well-being.
