Dra. Ljerka Armano is a nurse, researcher and professor at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. She currently chairs the newly established Institute for Forest Therapy and Mindfulness, founded with the support of the academic medical community and the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, to promote the scientific implementation of forest therapy in the prevention of chronic diseases. She also leads a key project together with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Rijeka.
Dr Armano has developed pioneering research on the perception and use of complementary and alternative medicine methods - including forest therapy - in oncology patients. She has master's degrees in nursing and biology, and more than 30 years of experience as an instructor in the Croatian Mountaineering Association. She is certified as a forest therapy guide at the European level.
With a distinguished international career, Dr. Armano leads and collaborates in projects on public health, wellness and forest medicine, and has published extensively in scientific journals. Her work promotes the integration of nature into human health and wellbeing, bringing an innovative and evidence-based vision to address global health challenges.
