Víctor Andrés Caro Castro is an economist and currently Head of the Environmental Information and Economics Division of the Chilean Ministry of the Environment. In this position, he coordinates public policies aimed at valuing natural capital, sustainability and the incorporation of environmental criteria into development planning.
He is President of the Chilean Natural Capital Committee, a key body for advancing towards a development model that recognises the value of ecosystems and the services they provide to society. With a solid background in applied economics and public policy, he has worked on the design of economic and regulatory instruments for conservation and climate action.
He has also worked as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Santiago de Chile, where he developed academic initiatives in circular economy, green finance and sustainability. His career is characterised by integrating scientific evidence, economics and public policy to address the country's socio-environmental challenges.
