Noelia Álvarez de Román

Noelia Álvarez de Román is an agronomist with a solid background in conservation horticulture. For 19 years she worked at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, where she specialised in the propagation and cultivation of woody species, as well as implementing a seed conservation programme for highly endangered species. During this period she also trained and mentored horticulture students.

She currently serves as Plant Conservation Project Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean at Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI), where she develops and implements plant conservation initiatives with a regional focus.

At BGCI, he coordinates the South American Botanical Gardens Network (RSAJB) and supports the coordination of the Caribbean and Central American Botanical Gardens Network (CCABG), promoting collaboration between institutions and strengthening the role of botanical gardens in biodiversity conservation.
