Biodiversity conservation

Campus Naturaleza is an unprecedented project in Chile, through which the University of Concepción proposes a new ecological commitment, providing a biocultural legacy to the community while developing a space for people to connect with the natural environment.

The project Campus Naturaleza University of Concepción will implement a conservation landscape using nature-based solutions, which will be realized through two approaches.

In situ conservation

The last remnants of the deciduous forest of Concepción that exist in the areas adjacent to the UdeC Heritage Campus, with species such as peumos, oaks, and olivillos, among others, as well as the Carcamo Stream wetland, will be protected.

Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work will be promoted, and trails will be implemented for environmental education, recreation, and mental health.
