Our mission

Who We Are

The University of Concepción conceived from the boldness of its founders, opened much more than a higher education institution; it created a new space directed towards the community. The estate of La Cantera and El Guindo, located in the hilly and ravine areas surrounding its heritage campus, possess environmental significance that the Campus Naturaleza project aims to protect and highlight for the community of Concepción.

Campus Naturaleza proposes a new way of interaction between humans and nature, based on the conservation of areas with high biodiversity value, scientific research, and human well- being, transforming it into a biocultural legacy for the community of Concepción, the country, and the planet.

Campus Naturaleza University of Concepción is a conservation and restoration project for areas with a high biodiversity value, located just minutes from its central campus. One of the missions of this unprecedented initiative in our country, is to protect endangered species, aquatic ecosystems, and one of the last remnants of deciduous forests of Concepción that still exist in the area. These are unique and irreplaceable transitional forests between the ecosystems of the central and southern regions of the country.

There co-exist different species such as robles, olivillos, peumos, naranjillos, pitao, michay araucano, and fauna species such as foxes, pudú, guiña cats, and tiger crabs most of which are at risk of extinction.
