Protecting biodiversity

In situ conservation

Safeguarding biodiversity in its natural habitat

Conservation in situ

Nuestro trabajo Proteger la biodiverisdad

Why does this matter?

Campus Naturaleza’s ecosystems sit within a highly fragmented peri-urban landscape. They are home to native, endemic and threatened species that depend on safe, connected habitat to feed, reproduce and move freely.

Protecting these areas also safeguards essential natural processes such as water regulation, soil formation, pollination and natural regeneration.

How we work

  • Monitor flora, fauna, fungi and aquatic ecosystems
  • Identify priority species and habitats
  • Track landscape change using transects, camera traps and acoustic recordings
  • Manage threats such as fire, litter, invasive species and roaming pets.
  • Promote research, training and public participation.
  • Strengthen connectivity with other natural areas in the surrounding landscape.
